It's all about the Oscars Tonight, Here's the winners

Wondering who the big winners were who won at the Oscars 2010?

First award of the night was for the Best Supporting Actor role. Oscar-nominated actress Penelope Cruz ("Nine") presented the nominees: Matt Damon, Woody Harrelson, Christopher Plummer, Stanley Tucci, and Christolph Waltz. The Oscar went to Waltz for his sinister Nazi Colonel performance in "Inglorious Basterds".

Next up was the Oscar for Animated film and as expected the Pixar film "Up" won, defeating other movies including "The Princess and The Frog" and "Coraline". Ryan Bingham and T Bone Burnett won the Oscar for original music for the film "Crazy Heart". Soon after, the best original screenplay award was taken by "The Hurt Locker". "Star Trek" picked up the award for "Best Makeup" prestend by Ben Stiller who came out dressed as one of the blue Na'vi aliens from James Cameron's "Avatar".

Comedian and actress Mo'Nique won the Best Supporting Actress for her role in "Precious", thanking the academy for voting by performance and not politics. Mo'Nique was emotional yet made a strong acceptance speech thanking her husband for urging her to forgo what's popular so she could do what was right. Looking at her husband she said "baby you were so right."

Best Actor and Best Actress were presented by former/current co-stars of the various nominees. These included the likes of Stanley Tucci, Colin Ferrel, Oprah Winfrey, and Michelle Pfeifer. For the Best Actor, Jeff Bridges ("Crazy Heart") finally won his elusive Academy Award, after being nominated five times. His first nomination came way back in 1971 for "The Last Picture Show". Bridges was ecstatic with the win and received a standing ovation from the audience of his peers. Best Actress was given to Sandra Bullock for her role in "The Blind Side" just moments after a tribute presentation speech from her former co-star Forrest Whitaker. Bullock beat out 15-time nominee Meryl Streep.

In the biggest announcements of night that many were awaiting, Kathryn Bigelow won the Best Director award for "The Hurt Locker". She dedicated her award to the men and women serving around the world and giving their lives for the safety of our country. Bigelow had just made her way backstage when the Best Picture Oscar award went to "The Hurt Locker" as well. Members of the cast and crew celebrated triumphantly on stage as they accepted the final award of the night. Many had been predicting it would be a potential Oscars battle between "Hurt Locker" and "Avatar" and each movie won several awards on the night. However, "Hurt Locker" took the top prize with its almost documentary-style story of a US bomb squad's work over in Iraq. As the show closed out near midnight, Steve Martin noted that the show took so long tonight that the movie "Avatar" now takes place in the past.
